Invisalign is a state-of-the-art orthodontic treatment that uses sets of almost invisible aligners to move your teeth gradually into their perfect position. Traditional orthodontics are fixed to the teeth. Invisalign retainers are discrete and transparent, and can be removed easily at any time. As with everything, there are disadvantages and advantages of Invisalign. For example more complex tooth movements may take longer with Invisalign when compared to fixed cosmetic appliances (braces). Sometimes we will use combinations of options to achieve a safe and good-looking result.
You will place new retainers approximately every two weeks. Each new set will gently pull your teeth one step closer to the desired position, following the precise plan created by your dentist. As you progress through your Invisalign treatment, your teeth will gradually be moved into perfect alignment, following the precise plan and timescale created by your dentist.
Your Invisalign journey starts with a free 15-minute consultation with our experienced team. We’ll show you what Invisalign can do for you, answer any questions you have and explain your cosmetic dentistry options in plain English.
We advise a full checkup before beginning Invisalign treatment. This allows us to ensure your suitability for Invisalign treatment, and address any other dental issues you may have.
Once you’re ready to go ahead with Invisalign treatment, we use the latest technology to produce a precise 3D model of your teeth. This model will be used, along with a plan created specifically for you, to create bespoke retainers that will start moving your teeth gently and precisely towards the desired alignment.
You’ll then receive your custom-made aligners, with each set to be worn for approximately two weeks. As you progress through your Invisalign treatment, you’ll come back to the clinic for regular checkups so we can monitor your progress and take fresh scans of your teeth from which to create the next sets of retainers.
How long after the initial appointment does the patient receive their first aligners? 2-3 weeks.
How frequent are the checkups? Can be done via a combination of virtually and face-to-face at our practice 2-4 weeks.
We’ll be with you every step of the way, and adjust your treatment step-by-step to ensure that your teeth are gradually and safely brought into alignment, ultimately achieving the smile you desire.
My valued colleagues are hand-picked and have to demonstrate the highest level of clinical ability, and to be warm and friendly people who love looking after others.
Sometimes, we keep it in the family. My wife also plays a key role in Blue Finch Dental, ensuring our values of treatment excellence and family care are transmitted through the company.

Invisalign offers a modern and convenient approach to achieving a straighter smile without the hassle and visibility of traditional braces. A world apart from traditional metal braces, people will generally never realise you’re using Invisalign retainers. With its discreet appearance to its comfortable fit and customizable approach, Invisalign is chosen by millions of people the world over.
Invisalign retainers are also easily removable, so you can take them out when eating, for photos, interviews or any other occasion where you would rather not use them. Although we do advise wearing them for 22 hours per day. Cleaning your teeth is also easy, as you can simply remove your retainers to brush and floss as usual.
Invisalign treatment can typically take between 9-18 months, but it depends on your individual case. The more severe the misalignment of your teeth, the longer it will take to move them into the right position.
Invisalign retainers are designed to be worn for a minimum of 22 hours a day. You will take them out to eat, and can take them out at other times if you need to, but the effectiveness of the treatment is based on you wearing them for a significant amount of time, and failure to wear the retainers enough will mean the treatment will take longer to work.
You’ll need to remove your retainers when eating, and brush your teeth before putting them back in your mouth. This is both for oral health and to avoid damaging the retainers. Your retainers come with a special case so you can easily remove them discreetly and store them whilst eating.
It can be inconvenient to have to brush your teeth after every meal, but it is important to maintain the health of your teeth.
As with all braces, Invisalign works by pulling and pushing your teeth manually into the desired position. As such, it is normal to experience some mild discomfort due to the pressure the aligner puts on your teeth.
Invisalign retainers cover your teeth and are made of a clear plastic. This means they won’t generally be visible from a couple of metres away, but it’s possible that people you are in close proximity to will notice them.
That said, Invisalign is a common treatment and nothing to feel self-conscious about. If anyone asks, just tell them about your Invisalign treatment and how happy you are with it!
It is possible you might find your speech slightly affected as you get used to Invisalign retainers, causing a slight lisp. However, most patients get used to this within a couple of days and Invisalign retainers do not significantly affect their speech.
Invisalign treatment starts at £2100, with the exact cost depending on the complexity of your particular case.
